‘Graveyard of the Gulf’ features four tracks from both bands. Supporting tour includes shows in Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton and St. John’s.
Two of the East Coast’s heaviest bands have collaborated on a new release. Graveyard of the Gulf features four songs from Deadgaard (St. John’s, Newfoundland) and Orchid’s Curse (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) and takes its name from The Gulf of St. Lawrence, the body of water that separates both provinces with more than 350 recorded shipwrecks over the past 400 years.
According to Orchid’s Curse, the collaboration came about following a pair of trips the bande made to Newfoundland over the past few years.
“After two successful trips to St. John’s, Newfoundland we fell in love with the city, the people and their incredible metal scene,” said the band in a recent media release. “It was an easy decision to do an album with local, heavy metal staples Deadgaard and we can’t wait for you to hear the Graveyard of the Gulf split. If you’re in Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton or St. John’s we hope to see you this July.”
Graveyard of the Gulf will be officially released July 7 on CD and as a digital download. To mark the occasion, both bands with play a pair of Halifax shows: an afternoon all-ages performance at The Pavilion and an evening show at Gus’ Pub with dates to follow in Moncton, Fredericton and St. John’s.
“We are absolutely stoked on releasing this split with Orchid’s Curse,” said Deadgaard. “Although we are both different genres, we feel as that the songs blend perfectly. It was a super fun project to work on and we can’t wait for people to hear it. Along with the album we figured it would be the perfect time to finally get our asses off this island and play for other audiences in Atlantic Canada. We are gonna bring it.”
