While it seems like they were just getting started, Yorks have announced their farewell performance in the wake of frontman/guitarist Josh Noseworthy’s acceptance into the University of Cambridge’s master’s program in conservation leadership. The Fredericton quartet released their first EP, 1, in June of this year with rumours of another EP’s worth of material awaiting release.

1 is a five-song collection that positions the band sonically somewhere between their collective indie rock upbringings and straight ahead rock influences. The group began in 2015 with Noseworthy, together with the rhythm section of Adam Guidry and Jake Spencer, before later enlisting lead guitarist Mike Nason whose melodic fills and accents helped steer the group’s rock-rooted foundation slightly off-centre to great effect.

Despite billing their upcoming August 13 performance as a ‘Farewell Show’, the band hopes to reconvene in 12 month’s time and return to the stage. Only time will tell if the four members will unite in the future. As for now, let’s hope that rumoured second EP will receive a proper release in the not-too-distant future.

Don’t miss the band live at The Capital this weekend. It may be your last chance.
