The New Brunswick Laboratory of Imaginary Media Research + Design will host an experimental workshop exploring the role of wonder and fantasy in our contemporary media landscape. NBLIMR invites anyone and everyone to come and join the team; no experience necessary.
“We will do some thinking together about classic imaginary media like The Holodeck, cyberspace, The Singularity,” said Dr. Henry Adam Svec, a scholar and inventor who is currently the University of New Brunswick’s Media Artist in Residence, “and we will collaboratively develop some of our own alternatives. This will be valuable for anyone interested in technology, group creation, theory, and fun. Part seminar, part drawing jam, all real.”
The New Brunswick Laboratory of Imaginary Media Research + Design was founded by Svec. His interdisciplinary projects, including The CFL Sessions and Artificially Intelligent Folk Songs of Canada have been presented in galleries and theatres across the country and his work has been featured in the Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, and several times on CBC Radio; and he has been an artist in residence at The Banff Centre, The Klondike Institute of Art & Culture, and Roberts Street Social Centre.
