Saint John alt-metal revivalists Sonic Detour continue their string of video releases with their latest, filmed on stage at the Imperial Theatre.
Saint John alt-metal revivalists Sonic Detour continue their string of video releases in support of the band’s debut self-titled debut EP. Their fourth video, this time supporting the song Cliché, was filmed on stage at the Imperial Theatre and features direction by Lauchlan Ough. Created with support from the theatre’s Incubator Project, a community initiative that gives local artists and groups a chance to explore new ideas on stage with the full support of Imperial staff, this latest chapter in Sonic Detour’s video rollout plays heavily on juxtaposition from the venue itself to costume design and editing.
“Starting a band during a pandemic was not only insane but completely necessary,” said the band. “We only wanted to create something new that we could listen to while still capturing a nostalgic feeling. Now we have our sights set a little higher. This is the first video we did not do ourselves. If you haven’t already heard, we plan on releasing a video for every song on our debut EP. This being number four, we have only a few left. Once all seven videos are released we’ll will have new material for the world.”
