Music Runs Through It presents Norma MacDonald, Kim Wempe and Carmel Mikol at Corked Wine Bar, Saturday November 18 at 2 p.m.
These three folk-rooted musicians claim an impressive list of accolades, from awards and nominations from Music Nova Scotia and the East Coast Music Association to performances on stage with a wealth of Canadian folk music’s who’s who including Rose Cousins, Jill Barber and Gabrielle Papillon.
Norma MacDonald also holds the distinction of being the first musician to perform as part of the Music Runs Through It series and her fourth album, Burn The Tapes, debuted at #3 on the national Earshot folk/roots charts.
Cape Breton’s Carmel Mikol is a three time ECMA nominee and a grand prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest’s folk category.
Kim Wempe has been touring internationally over the past five years playing shows in Canada, the United States and Australia and her list of award nominations spans Pop and Folk music categories.
In this series of collaborative performances, the trio will perform a mix of music from their individual back catalogues adding additional instrumentation and harmonies, giving their words and music an entirely new and fresh interpretation.
Matinee performances are few and far between. If you’ve ever complained about late start times, this is the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy some live music while the sun’s still shining.
