Songs of the City

Songs-of-the-CitySongs of the City tells the transformative stories of local, everyday people whose lives have been changed by the generosity of our community. Songs of the City pairs each of these impacted individuals with a writer to develop their stories of change, while a slew of Shivering Songs artists will compose and perform original songs based on their narratives. The event will be free and open to all ages, with information on performers to follow. The only way to guarantee a seat is to purchase a Festival Pass.

Songs of the City was conceived by Equity Showcase Theatre as a ‘thank you’ to United Way donors, and premiered in Toronto in April, 2015. This project with Shivering Songs is only the second time a show of this nature has taken place.

This event has been made possible by the generous support of our title sponsor, The Forever Fund, and Scotiabank.

New Brunswick Country Music Showcase

nbcs_logoIt is believed that Country Music started in Bristol Tennessee Aug.1st, 1927 with a historic recording session featuring Jimmie Roger’s and the Carter Family. Country music has come a long way since then. Country music has produced two of the top selling artists of ALL-TIME…..ELVIS PRESLEY, who was known as the “Hillbilly Cat” and of course Garth Brooks who has gone on to sell 128 Million albums in his career so far. We invite you to join us on January 23, 2016 at the Playhouse as we pay tribute to these great artists by presenting “THE LEGENDS OF COUNTRY MUSIC” featuring Nellie Spinney, Kathy Ruest, Jack McAffee, Noel Nason, Candace Phillips, Paul DeMerchant, Millen Anderson, Khoury Fraser, Anita Curran, Cynthia Hall, Marty Hall and the Showcase Band!
