The Welcomed Return of Dave Gunning

Category: music 102

Pictou County’s finest performs at the Fredericton Playhouse February 5, 2016.

Dave_Beach_2smallNo stranger to Fredericton audiences, Dave Gunning has been honing his craft throughout the Maritimes for many years now. He’s grown from weekend stages at Dolan’s and The Capital to earn his place among many of the East Coast’s finest songwriters.

The Toronto Star calls him, “the next big thing in the True North of Song, an artist as compelling, as assured and attentive to every nuance of the writing process, as Lightfoot, Cockburn and Stan Rogers before him.”

With 11 albums and countless awards and well-deserved accolades, Gunning is set to begin one of his busiest years to date. 2016 will see him perform on stages throughout Canada, the United States and Australia.

His most recent album, Lift, marks Gunning first time acting as producer for a recording of his own. “I usually record and engineer my own albums but would get someone else to produce,” he said. “For Lift, I put my big boy pants on and did it myself!”

Experience More! Songwriting Workshop:

In addition to Gunning’s performance at the Playhouse, he will lead an Experience More! Songwriting Workshop on Saturday, February 6 at 10 a.m. at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to share their ideas and work on song development while interacting with Gunning and other songwriters in a creative setting. Participants are asked to bring a song they’re currently working on, and must pre-register through the Playhouse box office.
