The fourth in a series of short videos exploring some of Fredericton’s former all-ages venues. This episode looks at the Kinsmen Community Centre, one of just a handful of all-ages venues to ever exist on the city’s Northside.

Here we go again. This time we’re talking about the Kinsmen Community Centre in the neighbourhood of Devon. Home to many a metal show during its tenure, the Kinsmen Community Centre also hosted a number of punk and hip-hop shows. When I started rolling these episodes out, a friend of mine reached out to tell me he saw Shad perform here back near the start of his career. I had no idea. Because my background is rooted in punk when it comes to all-ages shows, I sometimes forget that the mohawked, studded jean jacket crowd wasn’t the only scene without a home during the 90’s and early 2000s. Never stop learning.
NOTE: At some point in this video I say the Kinsmen Community Centre was one of only a handful of all-ages venues that I could think of. What I meant to say is that it was one of only a handful of all-ages venues on the city’s Northside. Seems I have the ability to make typos even when I’m not typing. Beat that!
