It’s hard to believe Prince Edward Island’s Sorrey have grown to become a regular fixture on the east coast music scene without ever having released a full-length album. Supported by just a handful of singles released over the past four years, the band, led by PEI musician Emilee Sorrey, have built an admirable reputation (and fanbase) by writing infectious and dreamy indie pop earworms backed by top-notch live performances. By doing so, they’ve also proved one important and often disregarded universal rule: it’s ok to take your time.

“We took our time and I think we focused on playing more than recording,” said Sorrey. “We finally hit a sweet spot with members over the last year and started writing and recording more cohesively. One of the last songs we wrote together, Full Bloom, ended up influencing the album title, and the song touches on waiting for the right moment and not worrying about outside forces. It feels like that’s right now.”

The band will celebrate the release of In Full Bloom with a string of dates through Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and PEI next month.

Sorrey plays The Capital Complex in Fredericton on November 7 and The Tide and Boar in Moncton on November 8.

“In Full Bloom establishes Sorrey as one of the more exciting East coast bands to watch as they continue to cultivate their unique brand of heartfelt pop.” – Exclaim!
