Province’s top three performance stages announce new seasons of programming.
Three of the province’s top performance venues have announced their 2016-2017 lineups this week. The Capitol Theatre (Moncton), Imperial Theatre (Saint John) and the Fredericton Playhouse have all unveiled exciting seasons of programming for New Brunswick audiences collectively totaling over 150 performances.
Some province-wide highlights include Canadian musical icons, Sloan, who will perform at all three NB venues as part of the band’s One Chord to Another 20th Anniversary Tour. Polaris Prize winner Tanya Tagaq will also offer three performances for NB audiences as will New Brunswick’s best-known comedian Marshall Button who will share the stage with Maestro Antonio Delgado and the Teaching Artists of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra and Sistema NB as part of the new comedy mash-up, NB Symfunny Orchestra.
The Fredericton Playhouse announcement also includes performances by Justin Townes Earle and a reunited Hot Toddy as part of this year’s Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, as well as the return of Ballet BC.
The new season at Saint John’s Imperial Theatre includes farewell performances by acclaimed vocal group The Nylons as well as Canada’s First Lady of Country Music, Carroll Baker. Cape Breton super-group The Barra MacNeils will also mark their return to the province for another of their much loved holiday shows, The Barra MacNeil’s Christmas.
The Capitol Theatre in Moncton announced musical performances by The Barr Brothers, Hey Rosetta!, The Lion, the Bear and the Fox and Restigouche River traditional music sensations, Les Bluecharms.
