A work in progress showing of a new creation by the coop.
Fredericton, NB – Solo Chicken Productions recently launched their new performance platform, the coop, with the support of their community partners, Charlotte Street Arts Centre, St. Thomas University and The Playhouse. the coop is currently engaged in a creative residency at Charlotte Street Arts Centre where they are working towards the creation of a full length physically based theatrical piece, The Record of Us, that draws upon the text of celebrated NB author David Adams Richards as the springboard for inspiration.
After a round of auditions in early April, the coop co-artistic directors, Lesandra Dodson and Lisa Anne Ross cast five incredibly talented emerging NB artists in the new ensemble and are thrilled to be collaborating with this team of inspired young artists. The team includes: Jean-Michel Cliché, Alex Donovan, Ian Goff, Alexa Higgins and Lexi MacCrae. The team, led by Dodson and Ross, are currently ensconced in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre auditorium, using the potent and rich text of David Adams Richards to forge a living collage of life in New Brunswick.
the coop, so named to encompass a creative cocoon or incubator, is a performance collective for professional artists to research, develop and perform original works of physical theatre. It aims to support artistic growth of emerging New Brunswick artists through training and performance opportunities. the coop was conceived out of a growing need to create, nurture and support the wealth of emerging NB performance artists through access to meaningful creative process and collaboration.
the coop will be presenting A Record of US – work in progress this Friday at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre.
