Fredericton’s Shivering Songs Festival gets things going early this year with back to back concerts to help us all deal with the imminent end of season blues.
On Friday December 11, Fredericton audiences will be treated to a solo performance by Halifax Nova Scotia’s rugged, raspy and always rarin’ to go musician, the one and only Ben Caplan.
Caplan is no stranger to these parts. He’s practically grown up on Fredericton stages. Over the years he has graced stages at The Capital, The Charlotte Street Arts Centre, Wilser’s Room and has even once played the part of Santa Claus for the FeelsGood Christmas party!
This special Shivering Songs performance is his first stop on a 40+ date tour that will lead Caplan through much of Europe before wrapping up in Dublin, Ireland in mid-February.
Josh Bravener will open Friday’s performance.

The very next night, December 12, Ontario’s Great Lake Swimmers will take the stage in support of their latest album, 2015’s A Forest of Arms. For over a decade now, Great Lake Swimmers have been bringing their unique blend of Canadiana to stages around the world, garnering praise from the likes of the BBC, The Globe and Mail and Paste Magazine.
Blending acoustic guitar, banjo, violin, upright bass and percussion, a performance by Great Lake Swimmers is guaranteed to make your heart swell.
