The Saint John Theatre Company Main Stage Series continues with The Crucible, March 20-23 at Imperial Theatre.
The Crucible, written in the 1950s by renowned playwright Arthur Miller, tells the partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials. The drama provides a passionate portrait of a community overcome by hysteria.
“Plans are well underway for The Crucible,” said SJTC Artistic Director Stephen Tobias. “We are excited to bring this powerful drama to the beautiful Imperial stage this March. Directed by acclaimed Canadian Director, Ron Jenkins, The Crucible is a timely tale that will entertain and intrigue all who see it.”
Ron Jenkins is a freelance playwright, director and producer from Cape Breton. From 2000 to 2006 he was the artistic director at Workshop West Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta. He has directed on stages across Canada including The Belfry Theatre, Ship’s Company Theatre, Alberta Theatre Projects and Native Earth Performing Arts.
Jenkins has directed past SJTC productions including 1984 and The Great Gatsby.
The production will receive five performances at the Imperial Theatre. Details and tickets at imperialtheatre.ca
