Saint John String Quartet add Bass and Bassoon for April Performances

Category: music 193

Patrick Bolduc and Andrew Miller team-up with SJSQ for shows in Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John and Sussex.

This month’s performances by the Saint John String Quartet mix some well-known favorite string quartet arrangements with a bit of wind flair. Andrew Miller joins the quartet to make a string quintet, which then adds a bassoon as a soloist. This is a chance for anyone not quite sure about the bassoon to hear it played by a Master. Jean Françaix is a composer of some of the most delightful music for chamber groups. He is recognized as giving all of the musicians challenging but supremely rewarding parts to play, in which melody along with virtuosity combine for some memorable performance and listening experiences. Along with virtuosity, Patrick Bolduc, Symphony New Brunswick principal bassoon, brings his personal joie de vivre  to the piece. This very special Virtuoso Concert should not be missed.
