Theatre New Brunswick’s Roundtable at the Roundhouse will feature guest playwrights Jivesh Parasram, Ryan Griffith, Anthony Bryan and Caroline Coon in conversation, April 12.
Writing can be a bit of a mystery. What goes into a draft? How do you craft complex characters or start writing a story that sizzles? How do you get to “the end?”
Theatre New Brunswick’s Roundtable at the Roundhouse will feature guest playwrights Jivesh Parasram, Ryan Griffith, Anthony Bryan and Caroline Coon discussing their practice through an open conversation moderated by TNB Outreach Coordinator and Fredericton-based playwright, Jena McLean.
“One of the most exciting parts of my job as Outreach Coordinator has been the chance to lift the curtain on the creative process and bring audiences into the process of crafting our season’s shows,” said McLean. “This roundtable takes this idea one step further by highlighting the foundational work of the writer, and giving space for these four fabulous artists to discuss their practices. The writing process can feel isolating and a bit nebulous to discuss — it’s so personal, so unique to each artist — so it’s my hope that this discussion sheds light not only on how plays are written and refined, but different ways of working.”
This event is open to everyone. Writers and creatives of all skill levels and mediums are welcome to ruminate, reflect, and engage with the evening’s featured playwrights during and after the talk.
