A new exhibit featuring photographs by graduating students of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (NBCCD).
Out of Bounds combines the creative photographic experience of ten emerging artists from the 2016 graduating class of NBCCD. The artists are students from the Photographic Entrepreneurship: Gallery and Marketplace class. As a part of their studies, the students were challenged to organize and curate this exhibition. In doing so, they gained behind-the-scenes knowledge required to prepare and display their art, how to use their art to earn a living, and other essential skills as they embark on their photographic careers.
Out of Bounds represents their emergence into the art scene as they break beyond their previous boundaries and discover the experience of working as professional artists. Using an eclectic mix of styles and techniques, each artist has set out to create two unique pieces explicitly for showing at the gallery. Throughout their time at the college, the students learn and work together as a creative, cohesive community. Although they learn the same skills, they all form uniquely individual styles and interests, and they all work as a team to help each other reach their full potential.
The show features NBCCD graduating students Joseph Comeau, Natasha Hoskins, Trudi Jardine, Katelyn Roy, Bailey Rogers, Dale Strickland, Alexandrea Tarrant, Jamie Ward, Katlyn Ward, and Jiaqian (Genesis) Zhang.
An opening reception is being held on Thursday, April 14 from 5 – 7pm at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre’s Charlotte Glencross Gallery. This exhibition will run from April 15 to May 2, 2016.
