A stint as a vagabond landed Peter Willie Youngtree in Nashville in 2009, where he was inspired by a vibrant music scene to carve out a career as a songwriter and performer. Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Peter Willie blends old country, American folk, and pop. His introspective, sometimes philosophical songs are filled with hefty helpings of romantic poetry. He has toured eastern Canada playing festivals, clubs and cafes, as well as abroad, travelling as far as Ireland to perform. He was more recently selected to be a part of the Lawnya Vawnya Festival in St. John’s, before travelling through Eastern Canada aboard Via Rail as part of their “Artist on Board” program. The modern troubadour’s debut album Country Hymns, due to be released this fall, demonstrates his proficiency not only as a songwriter and performer, but also as an arranger and producer.
