Canada’s ragtime cowboy returns to the East Coast. Plays Grimross Brewing Co. on September 23.
Vancouver-based roots crooner Petunia and his long-time traveling companion The Minimalist Jug Band (Al Mader) will make their annual pilgrimage to the East Coast this fall with dates in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. A one-time resident of Fredericton, Petunia cultivated a loyal audience performing his own mix of jazz, roots and country offset by occasional forays into yodeling cowboy territory through weekly performances at the Lunar Rogue Pub in the early to mid 2000’s. Since moving to B.C., he and his band The Vipers have continued to spread their music through frequent tours up and down the West Coast and releasing several critically acclaimed albums.
Petunia and Mader have been making regular trips back east for over a decade delivering a show that features both musicians playing solo as well as together as a duo. Mader, who performs emotionally rich beat poetry while playing a washtub bass, provides an ideal complement to Petunia’s staggeringly deep repertoire and distinctly unique performance delivery. Don’t miss this one. It’s gonna rip.
