Toronto singer-songwriter Brooklyn Doran shares new video/single ahead of January east coast dates.
Brooklyn Doran’s debut album These Paper Wings was released in 2016 and has since received considerable airplay and attention. Produced and mixed by Dan Hosh (City and Colour, Whitehorse, Elliott Brood, Rose Cousins) and recorded at Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, Ontario, These Paper Wings follows Doran’s 2014 debut EP, There’s A Light On.
I Found A Home is the second single from These Paper Wings. The video was directed by Toronto-based filmmaker and photographer Cassandra Rudolph.
“I wrote this song for a couple I met who have been married for over 40 years and I wanted the video to reflect how lost I felt while trying to write it,” said Doran. “How people come and go from your life and how the idea of love felt very semi-permanent for me at the time.
“Today, I am surrounded by wonderful people that I love, an amazing partner and a beautiful family,” she said. “For me the idea of finding home is with the people you love – be it a romantic partner, or a family of friends. I wanted to show that in the video- choosing specifically not to portray a heteronormative romantic couple, but a group of women who live together.”
Brooklyn Doran is a guest performer at this year’s In The Dead Of Winter Festival (Halifax) and will be playing five shows in the Maritimes this month beginning January 16 in Moncton.
