A special adapted version of NotaBle Acts is currently underway with many performances streaming online this week.

After a successful first week of performances, the 2020 NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival begins its second week of programming tonight with a three play lineup of readings that spotlights the festival’s important role of supporting and encouraging new playwrights. Tonight’s performance features the winner of this year’s middle school playwriting competition, the high school contest runner up and one of the selected one-act plays, traditionally chosen to receive a full production at Memorial Hall. This year, for obvious reasons, festival organizers decided to forgo most of the expected programming, choosing instead to stream everything through YouTube due to COVID restrictions/precautions. That doesn’t mean you can’t still get a seat and enjoy most performances in the traditional manner. You can (here’s how). But you can also sit at home in front of a fan, watch the performance, and even donate (here’s how to do that too) to support the festival all from the comfort of your home.
“I am grateful to NotaBles for going ahead with the Festival,” said Meg Edwards, whose play Wrack and Ruin will be featured as part of the August 1 afternoon performance. “It has given us all direction, deadlines and the joy of thinking and dreaming about theatre!”
This week will see a total of three such performances happening July 28 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. and August 1 at 2 p.m. There are also two remaining performances of the ever-popular Taking it to the Streets series happening at Barracks Square and one final performance of this year’s interactive, online mainstage production, Space Girl. Lots of theatre to engage with if you so choose.
