Nico Paulo has a busy few months coming up as she prepares to hit the road in support of her self-titled debut album released through Forward Music Group this past April. Over the past few weeks, the accolades have been rolling in, sharing praise for both Nico Paulo the artist, and Nico Paulo the album. CBC Music, Fader, MTV, KCRW and others have all taken note of Paulo’s captivating voice and the beautiful textures that help define her debut. That said, there’s a good chance you have yet to get acquainted.

To serve as your introduction or to reinforce what you already know, Paulo teamed up with co-director Jamie Miller to create a video for the album’s new single, The Master, filmed on location in St John’s, Newfoundland and Bombarral, Portugal.

“Evoking romantic renaissance met with the natural elements around St. John’s, Newfoundland and a favourite beach in Portugal we gathered memories from a period of emotional intensity and recreated the sleepovers, the bonding around a fire, the laughter and tears, the hikes, the tireless chats and the time holding space for vulnerability and holding each other,” said Paulo.

“This music video doesn’t just recreate human connection, sisterhood, empathy and heartbreak, elegantly, but aspires for the observation of our surroundings and connection to space and nature. To stop and pay attention for a moment. The strength alive in the escarpment walls and the fragility of our fragmented memories of peace and ease can lead us.”

Paulo will be playing Woodstock’s Dooryard Arts Festival, Fredericton’s Sweltering Songs, the InterAction School of Performing Arts, and the one and only Sappyfest this summer. Full dates and details below. See you in the crowd!
