Moncton legacy rockers The Monoxides share their first new single in more than 20 years.

As the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait. For fans of The Monoxides, the wait has been a long one. But the wait is over. Let Her Know, the first new song from The Monoxides in more than twenty years, is a perfect bridge between what was and what could be. Channeling all the classic rock and roll integrity that differentiated the band from its regional indie rock peers all those years ago, Let Her Know – the first of two singles planned for 2023 – is as much a return to form as it is a bold statement to newcomers; one that shouts loudly, “Rock and Roll Lives!”
Formed in Moncton in 1988, The Monoxides played a defining role in Canada’s rock revival of the ensuing decade gaining popularity and attracting major label interest alongside the likes of Sloan, Eric’s Trip, Hardship Post, and others on Canada’s East Coast.
Following the release of their last full album, The Free Release of Energy (2000), the band stepped away from the extensive tour scheduled that defined the previous decade and saw them share the stage with the likes of ZZ Top, The Pursuit of Happiness, Rusty, The Headstones, Our Lady Peace and Change of Heart.
“We’re thrilled to finally be releasing new music,” says guitarist-vocalist Steve Hickox. “It’s been a long time coming, but thankfully with all the live shows we’ve been playing over the past two decades, the chemistry between us has never gone away. We really feel like we’re picking up right where we left off 23 years ago, and we hope our fans and friends feel that way too when they hear the new tunes.”
Along with the release of new music comes news of a forthcoming vinyl rerelease of the band’s 1997 break-through full length album, Galaxy of Stooges. The reissue is expected to arrive later this summer via Record Record Label, a new imprint founded by Eric Warner of We Are Busy Bodies.
