It may have been 20 years since Fredericton musician Joe Ross last entered a recording studio but as his latest single clearly demonstrates, Ross hasn’t missed a beat. Where the Wild Resides is full of playful pop energy, propelled by the laidback momentum of a lazy summer’s afternoon drive.
“This is my first proper recording since 2003. Long dead in music years,” said Ross. “It was tracked, mixed, and mastered at Shiftwork Studios by Dylan Ward. I borrowed his Marian bandmate Stefan Westner to play drums. Without us ever playing together before, he nailed the track in a couple of takes.”
Arriving as the coldest months of the year set in, Where the Wild Resides offers just enough warm weather optimism to carry us through the next three months.
