This new initiative from Music NB is aimed at preventing and responding to sexual violence in live music spaces.
Music NB has announced a new initiative under the banner of its ongoing Industry Pathways – Expert Access program. Project Soundcheck is a prevention initiative aimed at giving festivals, venues, and communities the skills and training to prevent and respond to sexual violence in live music spaces. By reducing bystander apathy and training industry professionals to intervene when seeing harmful behaviour, participants will gain the skills to help foster safer spaces in their community and the greater music industry.
Training through Project Soundcheck will be provided free of charge for New Brunswick venues, festivals, and live music workers (including artists). Training in this specialized area can cost upwards of $2000.
