Northern Ontario bluegrass outfit announce nine New Brunswick dates as part of fall tour.
After nearly five years writing and recording the darkest of bluegrass music, Northern Ontario’s Murder Murder have become one of the most recognized Canadian purveyors of folk music’s shadowy side – the murder ballad. With two full-length releases under their collective belt, the band have announced plans to release a new album this fall. Wicked Lines & Veins will be officially released September 16.
In support of the new album, Murder Murder will head out on the road for a month of straight Eastern Canadian dates including nine (yes, 9!) New Brunswick performances.
“I’m the fiddle player with the band and I actually grew up in Saint John busking at the city market, and playing with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra and Symphony NB,” said Murder Murder’s Geoff McCausland. “Between that and other stuff I had on the go, I saw a lot of our beautiful and sometimes forgotten little province and so when the band started touring East, I had plenty of friends and family to crash with, in places you might not expect. We’ve played in Woodstock a few times staying with a friend of mine from high school, visited a friend from Sudbury in Edmundston, played and stayed at the Algonquin Resort in St. Andrews, and even made it to Grand Manan one tour.
“Murder Murder has actually played both Moncton and Saint John more times than we have Toronto,” said McCausland. “We love New Brunswick and are constantly vying for the band to be considered honourary Maritimers and maybe even get entry into the ECMAs.”
New Brunswick audiences will have plenty of opportunities to catch a performances during the group’s 15 day residency in the province.
