Fredericton whatchamarockers Motherhood share tour dates, compilation news, tells us about their sweet new set of wheels and drop hints about new music?!?!
It’s a big week for local art rock circus punks, Motherhood. Between being featured on a national compilation (read some | hear some | see some), buying a new van (see family photo), playing two release shows (Fredericton and Saint John), and finalizing demos for a new album, you might wonder how they have time to announce a Canadian tour. But Motherhood is no slouch when it comes to working hard, and this spring proves to be no exception. The hometown heroes, having hit every major East Coast city in the past month already, are preparing to set sail on a series of dates that will take them through Eastern Canada, hitting notable festivals such as Canada Music Week, Lawnya Vawnya and the local favourite, Flourish Festival.
Motherhood member Penelope Stevens chimes in, “Things are a bit hectic in the Motherhood camp right now, but in the best possible way. We spent most of the winter squirrelled away in our studio writing a new album, but now we’re switching gears and playing as many shows as possible. It’s nice to be back on the road again, and we’re going to be able to test out our new material before recording. And! We got a new van! I’m pretty sure at least 25% of it is spray-painted, but it has a tape player and stow-and-go, so what more could you ask for?”
Since last October, when they returned from a cross-Canada tour with label mates Little You, Little Me, Motherhood has been relatively quiet, writing new material and planning for the 2017-2018 season. This impressive tour announcement will get them limbered up and ready to hit the studio once again this June, working with the inimitable Corey Bonnevie at Monopolized Studios (Saint John, NB). Be sure to catch them on tour, and keep your eyes peeled, as the group promises many more Canadian dates announced soon.
