In advance of their forthcoming album Sunshine Baby, Jessica Rhaye and The Ramshackle Parade share the third single from the album, I Won’t Break.

Jessica Rhaye and The Ramshackle Parade have pulled out all the stops in creating their second album together. Following their two earlier singles Sunshine Baby and Come A Little Closer – two songs that together display the group’s range and ability to dive confidently into campfire folk and sultry jazzy territory with equal strength – Rhaye and her bandmates once again open a door into something new with the heart wrenching single, I Won’t Break.
“I Won’t Break is the darkest and heaviest track on the album, with incredible string arrangements by Jon Estes,” said Rhaye. “I started writing this song on an electric guitar, which is not an instrument I normally play, but the edgy vibe I felt and heard in the chords on this instrument became the backdrop for this song. Every member of the Ramshackle Parade added something special to the arrangement, from the guitar riffs to the dramatic drum hits and we all worked on the lyrics together. It was fun to write and record this rocker!”
Sunshine Baby will be Rhaye’s second album with The Ramshackle Parade and follows their popular ensemble debut, Just Like A Woman – Songs of Bob Dylan. The album will also be Rhaye’s first full album of original material since the release of 2016’s Song In Me.
“I wanted to do something completely different,” Rhaye explains. “As far as the writing went, I really dug deep. When I get into songwriting mode I go a little crazy, writing and researching; the house is neglected, my children get a little neglected. I’m a graphic designer, too, and, as a designer, it’s the same kind of process.”
Sunshine Baby arrives May 5 and is available for pre-order now.
