Dylan Menzie has been named a Top 4 finalist in CBC Music’s 2016 Searchlight competition, besting out over 1,700 entries to claim the spot.

With his compelling, sprawling vocal range, a striking mix of familiar yet sophisticated musical lines, and adept guitar skills, Dylan Menzie is quickly becoming one of Prince Edward Island’s prime exports. Hailing from Belle River, PEI, the singer-songwriter has been heralded as “the next big voice in Canadian music” (CBC).

Adolescent Nature, the new album from Dylan Menzie, is officially released this Friday, May 20. Produced and recorded by award-winning producer Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Fortunate Ones, Oh Pep!), the album showcases Menzie’s fervor towards big sounds, charismastic turns of phrases, and persistent pop leanings. From the cacophonous crashing album opener Talk To Me, to the rolling Where Everybody Knows Your Name, to the Zeppelin twelve-string finale, That’s The Way, the songwriter tackles unabashedly large questions about life and love on this, his sophomore record.

As a finalist in CBC Music’s Searchlight competition, Dylan Menzie performs during a special CBC TV broadcast airing on Sunday, May 22. Featuring performances from all four finalists in front of a live studio audience, the broadcast – which airs during the NHL playoffs – will also bring together the 2016 Searchlight judges: Maestro Fresh Wes, Sarah Blackwood (Walk Off The Earth), and Dallas Smith.

Dylan Menzie plays The Heartbreak House, 98 Greenwood Ave, with guests Thomas McCallum and Rag N’ Bone. | View event
