The Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band is hosting a ceilidh at James Joyce Pub on February 20th starting at 8 p.m.
A ceilidh (pronounced “kay-lee”) is a Celtic gathering featuring traditional music and dancing. Featured performers include Christine Melanson on fiddle, Kyle McDonald on piano and fiddle, Ian Leblanc and Sandy Gordon on small pipes, Paige LeClair on fiddle, father and son duo Justin and Doug Gallant on guitars and highland dancers Cindy Kimove and Jillian Ramsay among others.
“All of these performers have played at our ceilidhs in the past and the response has been incredible,” said organizer Amy MacKenzie “We’re really looking forward to it and hoping to expose some new folks to the Celtic side of Fredericton.”
Ceilidh regulars will happily teach you how to dance a traditional Cape Breton square set to the live, toe tapping music of fiddle and piano.
Donations will be accepted at the door for the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band organization. To stay updated on this and future ceilidhs, check out the pipe band’s Facebook page at facebook.com/fssapb
