Toronto songwriter Laurent Bourque brings his latest album, Blue Hour, to the East Coast this month with a string of dates through Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI supporting Ben Caplan.
For this, his sophomore album, Bourque teamed up with acclaimed East Coast producer Dan Ledwell (Fortunate Ones, The Once, David Myles, Gabrielle Papillon, Share). In the lead-up to the album’s creation, Bourque surpassed a personal goal of writing more than 100 songs and somewhere along the line, scrapped an entire album’s worth of material before settling in with Ledwell and longtime collaborator and drummer Jamie Kronick to make Blue Hour. Thanks in part to a number of collaborators and friends who joined in the album’s development, Bourque was able to craft an eleven song recording rich in loss, love and longing with a smooth delivery that blends easy listening R&B with a dominant pop undertone.
Paired with Caplan’s commanding stage presence, this upcoming tour should easily check all the boxes on your list of live music expectations, with highs, lows, in-betweens and more than a few good stories. . Tickets for all performances on sale now.
