Back in March while we were all watching our worlds slowly come to a halt, Saint John singer songwriter Kylie Fox was in the middle of an artist residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Banff, Alberta. The 20-day program was to provide songwriters an opportunity to explore their artistic practice alongside award-winning faculty, which included Shad, Cadence Weapon, and Grammy nominated producer Howard Bilerman. Sadly, the school closed its doors on March 16 as part of the nationwide lockdown. Fox flew home the next day.
“The closed the school on a Monday and I flew back home Tuesday,” said Fox. “It was a big bummer, but things were getting pretty tense. It was hard to write songs.”
Just over a month after her residency’s abrupt ending, Fox will crack open her laptop to deliver a live streaming performance as part of NB at Home, a series of online house concerts organized and funded through Music NB. She’ll also be sharing Cool Feet, a new single from her forthcoming debut full-length Green, which is set to arrive this fall.
