Saint John singer/songwriter Jessica Rhaye and her band The Ramshackle Parade will make their return to the concert stage later this month with a show at Moncton’s Capitol Theatre. The event will mark the group’s first live performance since the arrival of COVID-19 earlier this year.
The performance will also be Rhaye’s first socially distanced show, and one of the first for the 750 seat theatre. Only 200 tickets will be sold in order to accommodate safe and appropriate seating for all in attendance.
In addition to celebrating her return to the stage, this performance will also feature music from the band’s recent album, ‘Just Like A Woman – Songs of Bob Dylan’, released last year.
“There is something about Bob Dylan’s songs we connect with,” says Rhaye. “The melodies and his simple ease of delivery… We feel like there’s an invitation, like it’s ok to feel they can be our songs.
“Dylan always approached production with a minimalist hand,” Rhaye continues. “The real people, the noises of the shirt buttons, chairs scraping the floor — mistakes being made — these were allowed to stay in the final tracks rather than cut out on the editing floor. These features always made his work accessible. You could always tell there were real people somewhere in a room playing these tunes together.”
‘Just Like A Woman – Songs of Bob Dylan’ is Rhaye’s sixth full-length release, her second foray into production with Dale and the first with the backing of The Ramshackle Parade.
Tickets are $26 and must be purchased in-person or by phone via the box office (1-506-856-4379) so proper spacing between ‘bubbles’ can be accommodated.
