Fredericton songwriter Jason Anderson has been awarded the inaugural Arnold LeBlanc Songwriter Award, created in memory of Miramichi-based singer Arnold LeBlanc.
(Fredericton) The Arnold LeBlanc Songwriter Award jury met recently to choose the winner of the inaugural Arnold LeBlanc Songwriter Award, created in memory of Miramichi-based singer Arnold LeBlanc. Fredericton songwriter Jason Anderson was named the 2022 winner for his song Together, Apart.
Jason Anderson is a Fredericton-based singer-songwriter whose work is as anthemic as it is affecting. A dynamic recording artist and compelling live performer, the emotional immediacy of his albums is further electrified through cathartic, communal concerts. Personal and passionate, Anderson’s music crackles with life.
“What an honour to receive this award,” said Anderson. “My heart feels very full. How humbling to think a song I wrote connected with a jury whose work I so admire myself. I want to dedicate the win to my grandmother, who we lost last year. She was the first person to encourage me to make music and always was my biggest fan. This is for her.”
Together, Apart can be found on Spotify.
Special thanks to the award-winning music artists that graced the jury: Lennie Gallant, Catherine MacLellan, Rose Cousins, Joel Plaskett, and Jenn Grant.
The award, which comes with a $2000 cash prize, is delivered through The Jane LeBlanc Legacy Fund.
