Irvine is the latest single from Chillteens

Fredericton psych-rockers Chillteens showcase even more musical diversity on new single from their forthcoming album.

Chillteens are doing something right. With the release of Irvine, the third single from the group’s forthcoming album, the band has demonstrated not just three new songs, but also many of the ways the group has grown over the past few years. After cycling through various members, friends and collaborators across two previous releases, Sweet Songs (2017) and Green Tea (2021), the group’s current lineup of Oscar Tecu, Aidan Bullock, Paul Hayes, Iris Wolfe, and Jonathan Marino have arrived at a sound all their own by mixing elements of dreamy pop and modern jazz with the exploratory curiosity of improvised rock music (Notice I didn’t call them a jam band? Where I come from, that’s an insult).

Irvine includes a lot of what have become Chillteens’ mainstays: tightly locked synth and guitar textures, memorable melodies, and a metronome-steady rhythm section. This time around we are treated to the complimentary voices of Tecu and Bullock (and Stephen Hawking?) which take turns supporting one another on this track, adding in a whole new something-something to the anticipation building behind the new album recorded and mastered in Fredericton by Dylan Ward.

In Another Dream arrives September 6.

Upcoming Performances:

Sappyfest | Royal Canadian Legion, Sackville, NB | August 4 | Midnight
