Hampton-based producer Nick Fowler (FWLR) has shared another new collaboration created this time with Saint John-based alt-folk musician Austin Eatman. Lofi Beats to Realize You’re An Asshole To is the second in a series of new collaborations created through Fowler’s Kollab Sessions, a series of recent writer’s camps hosted at his Hampton studio.
While Lofi Beats to Realize You’re An Asshole To may, on paper at least, sound like a ode to comedian Denis Leary’s 1993 hit single Asshole – the two share a highly singable chorus after all – this latest release from the Kollab Sessions is all Eatman and Fowler, perfectly blending folk-pop lyricism and delivery with smooth moving beats that carry the song forward. Saint John musician Colin Ferris was also part of the session contributing to the lyrics and arrangement.
As a standalone song, Lofi Beats to Realize You’re An Asshole To holds its own while championing the beauty of collaboration between two otherwise contrasting musicians and acting as ideal bait to keep fans of the series eager to hear what comes next.
