Singer Sherri Chenard and guitarist Joseph Bonnell take the reins on the latest single from Free To Grow.

Jeff Patch couldn’t have found a better name for his band. Over a couple of full-length albums and several singles, Free To Grow have never shied away from trying new ideas and taking risks. At this point, it seems Patch and his band mates are eager to challenge themselves with each new song. Isn’t that the way art should be?

On the band’s latest single, Imperfection, vocalist Sherri Chenard and guitarist Joseph Bonnell take the reins, backed by a full ensemble that includes three (yes, three) backup singers. Chenard, with support from Catherine LeBlanc, Amanda Moss and Susan Thompson, delivers this powerful ode to Mother Nature above Bonnell’s guitar licks that take the group’s prog-rock vision and give it a more formal rock interpretation this time around.

We’ve come to expect the unexpected from Free To Grow and Imperfection is as solid and well-crafted a single as any band could hope to pen. This keeps them high on our list of bands to follow.

Free To Grow are expected to release their third full-length album later this year.
