The Statement finds rapper JTK reflecting on the past few years of Covid life seeking answers and a positive path forward.

In advance of his forthcoming album, Trainwreck, Rollercoaster, Fredericton rapper JTK has shared his first new single of 2022 and the second from the new album which is expected to arrive sometime next year.

The Statement follows the release of Coffee House Freestyle and finds the Fredericton-based musician working with Renegade Studios to distill the many struggles and doubts he, like countless other artists, have experienced since the arrival of Covid.

With his new single currently sitting at well over 100,000 plays on YouTube, JTK is one of many rappers from the Fredericton area whose music is gaining attention on an international scale.

The Statement is one of JTK’s most focused and well delivered tracks to date. Over a production template that holds firmly in place with little development, JTK’s delivery slowly builds a sense of tension, immediacy and urgency that holds to the very last syllable.

“From the name [of the new album] you can expect that it will have songs that depict both high and low states of mind,” said JTK. “It’ll be a rollercoaster listening to it.

“Coffee House Freestyle and The Statement are both highs in terms of energy, subject matter and delivery,” he said. “However, there will be songs that’ll show a low side. The album to me is therapeutic. I talk to the mic and it listens. It’s my way of letting go of many things and welcoming peace into my heart so I can feel reborn and refreshed.”
