The Charlotte Street Arts Centre’s annual emerging musician festival takes place this weekend.
For the past several years now, Fredericton’s Charlotte Street Arts Centre has been hosting a weekend celebration of New Brunswick’s emerging musical talent. Under the banner Fest Forward, a select group of musicians from around the province will congregate for two days of workshops and development opportunities that include recording and photo sessions, grant writing workshops and two public showcases.
This year’s participating artists include Blue Lobella, Den Mother, Jerry Faye, Keegan Dobblesteyn, Les Moon Tunes, The Falling Leaves, The Crossroad Devils, Quinn Bonnell, Wangled Teb and Sparrow. Gordon Gets Lost (Friday) and Keith Hallett (Saturday) will also take part in this year’s event as guest headliners.
“This is our most diverse lineup to date with music ranging from acoustic to electronic,” said CSAC’s ArtReach Program Coordinator Eva George. “We will be offering up professional development for our participating bands including sessions on bio writing, grant writing, a photoshoot and a live recording at CHSR. We are happy to share that Graystone Brewing is on board as a sponsor with delicious brews and we will also be serving up local cider from Red Rover.”
Past Fest Forward participants include Jaclyn Reinhart, Motherhood, Owen Steel, Penny Blacks, The Olympic Symphonium, The Waking Night and David R. Elliott.
Full details for both Friday and Saturday public showcase performances can be found by visiting the Fest Forward 2017 event page.
Weekend passes are $15 or $10 for one night.
“Shows start at 8 p.m. and will be over around midnight,” said George. “It’s super great if you don’t want to stay up too late!”
