Fredericton Arts Alliance’s artists in residence will not be working in the Garrison District casemates this year but will instead be sharing their work through social media.
Textile artist Tracey Dutt will be exploring the theme Everything will be Okay through her work as Fredericton Arts Alliance artist in residence from July 12 – 18.
As the second in a series of 12 artists in virtual residencies, Dutt plans to respond to the year’s theme by incorporating yarn, thread, and fabric into her pieces, using a variety of techniques.
“I would like to bring this message of hope to Fredericton,” said Dutt.
Dutt is also considering yarn-bombing a public space, to further promote hopefulness and solidarity in Fredericton
Dutt’s work will be posted online throughout the week, giving viewers the chance to watch her process. Art fans can stay up-to-date on Dutt’s project by visiting the Fredericton Arts Alliance Facebook page, @FrederictonArts on Twitter, and @fredartsalliance on Instagram.
Over the summer, look for artists offering poetry, music, pottery, collage, critical writing, mask making, painting, Queer zines, and textile art.
