Just a week after releasing the debut EP with his group Reset, Fredericton-based musician Gabriel Ibarra has shared his own debut single under the name El Tara. Shifting from the infectious hip hop energy that powers Reset’s five song release, EP1SODE, Ibarra’s solo material appears to follow a decidedly more pop path, though no less rich in production value and positive vibes.
“I’ve been mainly working as a producer for my band as well as other artists, but recently I found a voice in making music to perform myself,” said Ibarra. “Lilac is very different to the rest of my work in terms of genre, as I mainly produce hip-hop and lilac is a more pop, indie sort of tune, but I do still think that my sound is still very much there. I hope listeners can resonate with the lyrics and enjoy the summer vibes.”
