Drea Lake brings her delicate folk melodies to the Tipsy Muse Café for an intimate performance on November 26.
Drea Lake writes the kind of folk songs that stick in your head the way pop music earworms do. A remarkable achievement when you consider Lake has released just three singles, none of which are based around a major hook. At least not the kind of hook we think of when we think of pop music. Big, catchy choruses and short melody lines are not part of her repertoire. Instead, she chooses to slowly unravel a theme wrapped within delicate vocal lines and beautiful melodies that build and shift through an approach to progression that mimics that of a great storyteller. Her work is captivating and all encompassing, held together by intricate finger style picking, subtle chord changes, and pure comfort. Exactly the kind of music you want to experience in a listening room environment.
Fredericton audiences will get the chance to experience Lake’s music live and in-person when she visits the city next month for a show at the Tipsy Muse Café. Tickets are on sale now and seating is limited.
