An exhibition of selected images by photographer Sarah Sarty opens May 18 at The Capital Complex.
A selection of images by Fredericton-based photographer Sarah Sarty will be on display beginning this weekend at The Capital Complex. Sarah’s work covers a wide range of subject matter from high contrast family candids to unique portraits inspired by light and space.
The work included in her upcoming installation will include several artist portraits including images of local musicians Kurtis Eugene and Belia as well as Halifax dancer Elisabet White.
“I enjoy working with artists a lot,” said Sarty in a recent interview on CHSR FM’s noontime program, The Lunchbox. “The main reason why is because they’re super-creative and it’s nice to try and capture images that really speak to their work and have that image highlight what they’re presenting in their art, whether it be music or visual art.”
Sarty went on to describe her work as being, “a little gritty, a little imperfect, a little raw…something really authentic.”
There will be an opening reception Friday May 18 at The Capital Complex from 9 – 11 p.m. with music by DJ STV.
