Saint John Theatre Company touring Of Mice and Men March 16 – April 2, 2017.
(New Brunswick) – The company is pleased to be touring its Main Stage production of the John Steinbeck classic novel, Of Mice and Men, March 16 – April 2, 2017.
As part of the tour, performances will be offered in Sussex, Saint John, St Stephen and Fredericton. A public evening performance as well as daytime student performances will be offered in each location. Student outreach is the focus as the company continues its ‘SJTC Theatre On the Road’ (SJTC TOR) initiative which is designed to offer engaging theatrical experiences to NB students at no charge to schools. The company will be reaching out to area High Schools to extend an invitation to the show.
The play was chosen as part of the company’s ‘TD Classics for the Classroom’ program which aspires to bring literature to life for youth in the region by selecting curriculum relevant works that are read in the classroom and then presented on stage.
“‘Classics for the Classroom’ has been a vital part of SJTC programming for many years, and we value the opportunity that TD is giving us to share the program with even more students,” said Stephen Tobias, Artistic Director, SJTC. “In bringing these works to life for our student audiences, we are supporting the work of educators throughout our region, we are helping to enhance literacy skills and fostering a love of literature in our youth, we are helping to develop the next generation of theatre-makers and theatre attendees.”
