Ovarian Psycos
(J. Sokolowski & K. Trumbull-LaValle / US / 2016 / 72 min.)
Friday, Sept. 15 at 7:00pm at Conserver House, 180 Saint John St., Fredericton.
Since founded in the summer of 2010 by activist, poet and single mother, the Ova’s have made it their mission to cycle for the purpose of healing, reclaiming their neighbourhoods, and creating safer streets for women on the Eastside of Los Angeles. At first only attracting a few local womxn, over the past few years the group has inspired a ferocious and unapologetic crowd of local heroines who are a visible force in Los Angeles. The film explores the impact of the group’s brand of feminism on neighborhood women and communities as they confront injustice, racism, and violence.
There will be an optional discussion after the film. All are welcome. Screenings are free but donations welcome. Conserver House location is wheelchair accessible but the washrooms are up the stairs. This is Cinema Politica Fredericton’s 10th season!
