Status Quo: The Unfinished Business of Feminism in Canada
This documentary, interweaving a wealth of archival material with contemporary stories, situates the vibrant Canadian women’s movement in its history-making context. The landmark Royal Commission on the Status of Women (1967) made recommendations to address the inequalities faced by women and this film zeroes in on key concerns (violence against women, abortion access, universal childcare) asking how much progress we have truly made. NB is featured in this film.
The film is presented in English and is free to the public (washrooms are not accessible, sorry!). Donations welcome to help with network membership fees.
This film is sponsored by the World March for Women Preparation Committee. Members of the WMW will be on hand to moderate the (optional) discussion following the film.
