Fredericton’s community/campus radio station is seeking music submissions for a digital mixtape, part of the station’s annual FunDrive fundraiser.

CHSR FM has been serving the needs of the local community for more than sixty years. Broadcasting from its home on the University of New Brunswick campus, the station has a long history of championing local artists and university events. As a nonprofit organization, fundraising is a big part of each season and like many nonprofits, the need to raise money only increases year after year.

One major aspect of this year’s fundraising activities will be a digital mixtape which will be available to purchase on Bandcamp beginning later this week. To support the project, CHSR is asking for local musicians and bands to donate a song to the compilation.

“We’re trying to get enough song submissions to create a digital mixtape that we’ll put on Bandcamp and we’re looking for artists to donate a track for us to use,” said Program Manager Erin Bond. ”As a thank you, CHSR will send a copy of this digital mixtape to all the other campus and community radio stations across Canada.”

This year’s fundraising activities will help alleviate some of the unplanned expenses the station has encountered over the past year of downsizing and relocating within the Student Union Building.

“Just saving and relocating the two stickered doors from the old music library was over $3000,” said Bond. “During the FunDrive we’ll also be at the ReCap Market and will host a 12 hour radiothon on Aug. 19.”

A new selection of hand screen printed station merch featuring the classic logo designed by Doug Beairsto will also be available.

Deadline to submit music for the digital mixtape is August 10.
