Saint John’s Buskers on the Bay Festival returns July 13-17, 2016.
After a highly successful 25th anniversary festival, Saint John’s Buckers on the Bay Festival is set to enter its 26th year in spectacular fashion, welcoming an international cast that includes some of the finest street performers from around the world. Operating under the theme Feast for the Senses, organizers plan to make the next five years some of the most exciting in the festival’s history.
“We enjoyed playing with the concept of ‘experience the four elements; discover the fifth element’ from our 20th to 25th,” said festival director Stephany Peterson. “Now we are exploring Feast for the Senses as it pertains to buskers – the sights, sounds, scents, tastes, and being touched by an experience unlike any other.”
This year’s event continues the festival’s annual growth, adding a fifth full day of programming that will bring more acts, more venues and a lot more surprises to the city’s uptown core. This year’s event will include everything from aerial acrobatics and gravity-defying stunts to gut-busting comedy and high energy music.
“Throughout a quarter of a century, this festival has shaped and been shaped by our city,” said Peterson. “It is a part of our city as much as the city is a part of it, having garnered a reputation as one of the biggest and best by both performers and audiences alike.”
Buskers on the Bay is the only festival of its kind in New Brunswick and the largest on the East Coast.
“It’s an event that uniquely makes our citizens feel like tourists, and our visitors want to become citizens,” said Peterson. “We cannot wait to share another year of Buskers on the Bay.”
