Mike Trask began releasing music from his Vault Series back in October of 2021. As the name suggests, the idea behind the series is to revisit songs that were never entirely finished. Demoed, but not complete. As fate would haver it, the first three singles from the series – Great God Almighty, Love on the Rise, and Goosebumps – have become some of Trask’s most streamed songs with the first in the series currently inching its way towards 200,000 plays on Spotify alone.
Back Tooth is the fourth single from the Vault Series and pulls together a lot of the familiar sounds we have come to expect from Trask: gruff, melodic vocals atop a rhythmic powerhouse combining slick guitar leads and bass lines with cavernous, dirty drums. It’s a sound forged from vintage gear characteristics – slightly rough around the edges, yet masterfully utilized to create something altogether distinct and timeless. Modern Vintage? Whatever you wish to call it, this is pure Trask.
