In 2019, Fredericton-based physical theatre company Solo Chicken Productions and its supporting partners launched an initiative called The Spirit Project. The program offered mixed ability arts-based workshops that created space for folks with and without intellectual disabilities to share their voices, foster their creative spirit and strengthen community. Now entering its third year, The Spirit Project returns this week and invites a mixed ability group of artists to come together each week at The Charlotte Street Arts Centre to create, laugh, dance, play and to demonstrate the positive power of living in a truly inclusive society.

Beginning in late September 2021 SCP will be welcoming new artists into their creative circle. Fall programming will include creative training with workshops planned in music, dance, theatre, and visual art with an eye to beginning work on a new performance planned for the winter 2022.

Everyone is welcome to join. Folks with and without intellectual disabilities, caregivers, support workers, parents, friends, artists and more.

Here’s the rundown:

DATES: Wednesday September 29 – Wednesday December 15, 2021 (Will continue in the new year…)

TIME: 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. each week.

LOCATION: Auditorium of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, which is located at 732 Charlotte Street.

The programming is all FREE and all materials are included plus a healthy snack is offered during each workshop.
