On Tour: Wares

Edmonton’s Cassia Hardy brings her project Wares to the East Coast for shows in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in support of the band’s self-titled debut.

After more than five years refining her latest project, Edmonton musician Cassia Hardy stepped up her game last fall with the release of Wares’ self-titled debut full-length album. A varied mix of catchy hooks and personal reflections, the band’s debut doesn’t stay in the same sonic territory for more than a track or two, yet remains consistent in its thematic delivery as Hardy and co. move from ear-splitting overdriven anthems to familiar folk structures.

Wares has been described as “a cathartic shout across the prairie sky” blending noisy folk-punk with ambient textures and stories of small-town life. But don’t just take our word for it, catch the band in NB and NS this June with dates in Saint John, Halifax and Sackville.

Wares is the name for the noisy, driving, power pop sounds made by songwriter Cassia Hardy. Emerging in 2013, Cassia quickly established a local reputation for her captivating live sets. Recently, Wares’ eponymous debut on Double Lunch Records has enjoyed widespread acclaim from critics and long time listeners. Throughout each track Cassia’s deft lyricism and knack for arranging keep the music focused and engaging. Currently a four piece band for live shows, expect new sights and sounds from Wares as they tour the country this summer.
